1. How do I fill in crossword puzzles?
Whether you are starting a new crossword or continuing a saved one, you will use the Kindle's 5-way controller to navigate to the square you want to fill in. Clicking on a square with the Kindle’s 5-way controller will allow you to either:
- Fill in a single letter if it is in the middle of a word
- See an across clue, and fill in all the letters
- See a down clue, and fill in all the letters
- If two clues start from one square, choose to OK to fill in the across clue or Cancel to fill in the down clue
Any squares can be revisited and changed, and whole clues can be retyped by clicking on their starting square.
You can also see all clues at once by clicking the Next page button on the Kindle. Click Prev page to return to your crossword.
2. Can I jump to a clue quickly?
If you don’t want to navigate around the crossword grid to get to the clue you wish to fill in, you can use the Jump to clue function at the top.
Type the clue number you’re after into the box, move to the Go button next to it and click the 5-way controller. The clue will be displayed just as if you’d clicked on the square.
3. How can I save my progress?
You may save your puzzle at any time by clicking the Save link above or below the crossword. You can then continue completing this puzzle or leave it and access it later from the load section of your home screen.
Note: a maximum of four puzzles will be shown on your home screen at any one time. You can see and access all your saved puzzles through the View all link in the Load section of your home screen. All the puzzles - saved and unsaved - will be listed in each of your books.
4. Where can I check my answers?
You can check your answers at any point by clicking on the Check answers links above and below the crossword. If the letter in any square is wrong the square will turn gray. If correct, it will stay white.
- A - your answer is correct
X - your answer is incorrect
You can then return to incorrect squares, change what you have entered, and re-check.
5. When can I see the correct solution?
You can see the correct solution at any point by clicking on the Solve links above and below the crossword. Once you confirm you want to do this your crossword will be completely solved.
